The TMA Prototype Run Begins: Limited Edition Instruments Open for Reservation Soon
The Monk Project moves from development into its next phase as the first limited production run of TMA devices prepares to begin.
After years of development, testing, refinement, and more recently; exhibitions, and conversations with musicians, the first limited edition prototype run of the TMA Device is now approaching.
The order form will soon open for musicians, composers, producers, and early supporters who want to secure one of these first instruments.
The initial run will be deliberately limited. These devices represent the first opportunity for people outside of The Monk Project to experience TMA as a physical instrument, bringing the ideas, experiments, and systems developed over years into real-world creative environments.
The TMA Device is not a traditional sequencer. It is a generative musical instrument built around a collection of independent sequencing models, a musical theory engine, and a system designed to encourage exploration and collaboration between musician and machine.
Rather than replacing the creative process, TMA has been designed to become part of it — a tool that can suggest, evolve, and respond while leaving the final decisions in the hands of the musician.
The first prototype instruments will allow early users to become part of the continuing development of the platform. Feedback from these first musicians will help shape future firmware updates, expansion modules, and the wider TMA ecosystem.
Rather than replacing the creative process, TMA has been designed to become part of it — a tool that can suggest, evolve, and respond while leaving the final decisions in the hands of the musician.
Over the past 6 months, TMA has been demonstrated at events including the London Synth & Pedal Expo and GearExpo UK, where visitors were able to experience the instrument first-hand and see the different approaches behind its generative systems.
Each prototype represents more than just a piece of hardware. It represents the beginning of a community around a different approach to musical technology.
A limited number of signed hand made TMA Devices will be available during this first run. Each one unique.
